Hydrogen Powered Drill & Charge Station for GMC

Solve3D were commissioned to produce a semi-functional model of a hydrogen fuel cell charge station and drill. This was a challenging project, bringing together many model making techniques.

Creating the CNC machined, hand finished, polished acrylic was the easy part. Large elements had to look and have the cold feel of metal components but retain a lighter weight feel. We machined and finished polyurethane to then electro-formed the surface. 160 microns of copper was first applied, then followed by 100 micron of grey nickel, this was then gently brushed. 12v lighting circuits were integrated to bring life to the unit, and tinted silicone used for the fuel call media.
